The Ford Explorer is a big deal. It’s a family favorite thanks to its sporty design, versatile and roomy interior, and plentiful safety features. In fact, all of these great elements come together to make the Ford Explorer what it is – the best-selling SUV in U.S. history. Because the Explorer is such a favorite among car enthusiasts and experts alike, Ford is committed to constantly improving the SUV — and that includes giving its dramatic redesigns and updates center stage. The revamped Ford Explorer for 2020 recently debuted at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The current iteration of the Ford Explorer has been long-lived — the outgoing model has been on the market since the launch of its generation in 2011. With the Explorer a few years shy of coming up on a decade, it was due for a makeover.
Global Chief Engineer of the Ford Explorer program Bill Grubing stated the reinvented Explorer was designed with customers as the top priority. “Over the last eight years, our team has been together, living the customer, breathing this customer – studying, learning, understanding this customer.”
The redesigned Ford Explorer doesn’t just offer the latest tech and amenities; it has also expanded in dimensions and space, offering more versatility and convenience to families. There’s no word yet on when it will be available to the public, but it should be rolling on to dealership lots later this year or at the beginning of 2020.
